Drive-to-cinema: Raise the curtain for data-driven arthouse cinema
Challenge
Camino stands for selected arthouse cinema — always looking for the perfect balancing act between art house and commercial success. Quality is the top priority, but the target group is sometimes rather well-defined and the cinemas have been carefully selected. Accordingly, it was important to reach the right cinema fans in a targeted manner and to match with the right cinema.
Solution
With Dynamic Ad technology, over 100 dynamic display advertising media could be created for the current film “HOLY MEAT”, which targeted the right users within a defined area of participating cinemas. Thanks to the technical integration of feed data, the locations were automatically updated during the campaign, meaning that cinemas that were added during the campaign were also sensibly considered.
The so-called “drive-to-cinema ads” combine an eye-catching branding area including film trailer with interactive map integration. This not only increased awareness of the film, but also ticket sales.

Results
The campaign achieved an average CTR of 0.75%, in individual locations even over 0.9%. More than 100 combinations of advertising media show the effectiveness of the lever of dynamic data integration. In addition, a strong viewability across benchmark of over 82% across all locations was achieved. Individual geographical adjustments and optimizations in interests, placements and times significantly improved engagement.
